FauxCon 8 - confounding our enemies and delighting our friends

D&D 4th Edition Release!

Wizards of the Coast are planning a world-wide release of the new edition of the ultimate roleplaying game, Dungeons and Dragons, and FauxCon is fortuituously running on this weekend!

As a result, on the Saturday night, Wizards representatives will be present to promote the new release, answer questions about the new system, and give out packs of all 5 of the core books you need to run the new game!

Some teasers have already been released of course - the last 6 months have been a whirlwind of speculation across the internet about even the most isolated bits of leaked information.

For instance....

  • The new system relies far more heavily on the previously ignored d12 - several character classes will roll 2d12 rather than d20 for their rolls!
  • Due to several different legal actions, the only remaining race is Kender, simplifying character generation considerably!
  • In addition to the usual Players Guide, Referee's Guide and Monster Manual, the core books also include Munckin and Powergamers Guide and Anecdote Compendium.
  • In light of recent paleoanthropological discoveries, dwarf characters will now be required to talk in high, squeaky voices.

At the end of the convention, FauxCon will be giving away copies of the FauxCon 8 D&D Major - due to a lack of foreknowledge of the system mechanics and scheduling time mean that the game cannot be run at the convention, so several orgs and writers will be spending the Saturday night re-writing and printing copies for all attendees!
